The Rudman Family Food Pantry

The Rudman Family Food Pantry at the Mid-Island Y JCC focuses on homebound seniors and low income families. Approximately half of the people we help are poor/near poor and usually receive monthly assistance from our pantry. The other half are people who can get by under normal circumstances, but are struggling now because of the current crisis. The monthly requests for assistance has tripled since March 2020. We receive new requests every single day!

In addition to non-perishable foods, household supplies and personal care items, the Rudman Family Food Pantry now has volunteers shopping for perishable groceries and delivering them. We are also delivering pre-made meals to homebound seniors. Approximately, 400 meals will be delivered this week!

There are many ways you can help!

Please consider making a monetary donation to help the Rudman Family Food Pantry during this critical time.

By donating non perishable food items, household cleaning supplies and personal care items you can help us provide needed items.
Our list changes weekly so please check our website to see our most current needs.

This week we are requesting:

  • Juice
  • Dish Soap
  • Laundry Detergent
  • Spray Cleaners
  • Pineapple
  • Crackers

Collection bins are located outside the front door of the MIYJCC for easy, hands-free drop off.

During these unprecedented times, your help is vital to our community. Current volunteer opportunities are:

Perishable Package Deliveries:

Volunteers are needed to shop and deliver perishable food items.
You will be asked to shop and be provided the clients name, address and phone number so you can arrange the delivery.

Pantry Non-Perishable Package Delivery:
Requested pantry items need to be delivered directly to client homes. Packages are prepared and can be picked up by a volunteer at the JCC and delivered.

Those interested in volunteering can email Gail Warrack at [email protected] or Rhonda Green at [email protected].
